In an effort to drive ratings up against WCW Monday Nitro, Raw would regularly have WWF Championship matches in the main event. With no competition and a desire to make the titles and Pay Per Views mean more, championship matches on Raw became less and less frequent. This past year, the title was rarely defended on Raw. Seth Rollins never defended the belt unless he had to (which was part of the storyline of him being a part of the Authority), and Brock Lesnar rarely defended the belt on Pay Per View, let alone on Raw. With the ratings in the tank, the creative team decided to break out the big guns by having title matches on Raw. Over the past month, there have been three title matches on Raw. The first came the week before TLC, the second came the night after TLC, and the most recent one was this past week.
