9 Ways WWE Changed As A Result Of Eddie Guerrero's Death
6. Vickie Guerrero - WWE Lifer
When Eddie died, he left his family in a perilous financial situation (he'd had problems with the IRS earlier in the decade and still owed money), despite earning a healthy salary as a WWE headliner and healthy merchandise shifter. Adding to the situation, Eddie and family had just recently relocated to Florida and bought a house. It was a tough time for Vickie and Eddie's girls. WWE, once again to their credit, did what they could to help them by giving them financial support and, eventually, offering Vickie a job as an on-screen character. Vickie had made appearances for WWE throughout the summer of 05 during the ongoing Eddie/Rey storyline, but she would get a lot more involved during Chavo Guerrero's dispute with Chris Benoit (also based on Eddie's death). From there, Vickie stuck around and improved in leaps and bounds over the next few years. Her run as Smackdown GM and relationship with Edge was, in particular, rather awesome. 'The Cougar' stuck around as a TV character until June 2014 when she left in order to pursue a career in medical administration. She was well-liked backstage and most were sad to see her go. Vickie more than likely wouldn't have been hired as a permanent on-screen character, were it not for her husband's tragic passing and Vince and Co's feeling as though they owed her something because of Eddie's hard work and dedication. Props to Vickie, though, as she did Eddie proud by developing into a confident performer, at one point becoming the biggest heel in the company.
