9 Wrestlers Who Vanished Off The Face Of The Earth

7. Flip Gordon

Blitzkrieg WCW
ROH

Flip Gordon was all the rage in 2018.

An endearingly square-jawed dimwit-seeming type, he enchanted crowds with his elegant gymnastics routine, with which he outsmarted his heel opponents. He was superb playing against Cody Rhodes, who on Being The Elite just could not sanction his totally harmless disposition. The sheer irrationality of it all was such a great bit, and Cody plays a hothead jock to unreal effect.

So what happened?

Well, a feud with Bully Ray dragged on and on and made people care less about him, and isn't that mad? Shouldn't all that heat have made fans sympathise with Flip all the more?

Flip is still wrestling, only with a significantly lower profile.

Also, this is where the "outsmarted" bit becomes rather ironic, because he effectively ruined his mainstream prospects by regurgitating bullsh*t conspiracy theories. These range from "Oh, he's just a f*cking idiot", like his belief that the round earth is flat, to "Oh, he might be a bad or irresponsible human being" like his belief that the COVID-19 pandemic wasn't on the up and up.

Wrestlers and indeed everybody else should be allowed, within reason, to hold their own beliefs, but when they have the potential to endanger others, they can piss off.

And Flip was told to piss off by anybody of influence.
