After begrudgingly applauding partner Rey Mysterio's victory in an exhibition match against himself at WrestleMania 21, Eddie Guerrero's frustrations with his tag team partner and fellow gold-holder finally reached boiling point on the 21 April 2005 episode of SmackDown.

The champs had been gifted a pass that night, defending straps against the admittedly fired-up but still green debuting team of Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro, collectively going under the title MNM. However, Latino Heat had other ideas. The rookies cut the ring in half to lay a beating on his partner, and when Mysterio finally reached his corner, there was no hand waiting for him. Eddie turned away, allowing the newbies to roll poor Rey up for the win.

It was the end of the line for Guerrero and Mysterio, but an absolutely golden debut for MNM, who became the first tag team in WWE history to win the championship in their very first match.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
