9 Wrestlers With Seriously Complex Backstories

1. Kane

When it comes to complicated origins, there€™s probably none more complex than that of Kane. The Big Red Monster debuted in the Federation on October 5th way back in 1997. During the first-ever Hell in a Cell match between Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker, Kane strode down to the cage and ripped the door off of its hinges. The mysterious masked man entered the ring and delivered a tombstone piledriver to the Undertaker, allowing HBK to pick up the win. Prior to Kane€™s debut, Paul Bearer had begun to allude to his existence. In April of €˜97, Bearer was severely burned after Taker threw a fireball in his face. Upon his return a month later, Bearer threatened to reveal the Undertaker€™s biggest secret -- eventually revealed to be Kane. According to Bearer, Kane was the Undertaker€™s half-brother who had survived a fire as a child. It was later revealed that the Deadman had set the fire in an attempt to kill his family. Despite his parents perishing, Kane survived the blaze -- albeit badly burned. The wounds eventually healed and turned to scar tissue, which Kane sought to conceal with his mask. The two superstars then feuded for about a year. More shocking details of Kane€™s past would be revealed years later in 2002. By that point, Kane had become less of a frightening figure and more of a typical big man. However, in October of €˜02 -- while embroiled in a feud with Triple H -- it was revealed that Kane had engaged in something truly horrible. Triple H accused Kane of performing necrophilic act. The story goes that Kane had strong feelings for a girl named Katie Vick, however, the feelings were not reciprocated. After Vick died in a car accident, Kane had sex with her. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASmdxXaOzd4 Throughout the years, Kane has gone through many changes -- making him easily the most complex character in WWE€™s history. Recently, Kane went corporate and joined the Authority. Despite switching back to his monster persona on occasion, Kane is now a well-adjusted, suit-wearing, corporate stooge.
