9 WWE Moments That Prove Vince McMahon Has Been Going Blind For Years

1. The Invasion

The Obvious Course Of Action: This was a potentially huge money-spinning angle which should have allowed professional wrestling to explode into the 21st century and enjoy a period of incredible success. The long-awaited war between the WWF and WCW was finally becoming a reality and - although many big names had refused to immediately sign with Vince following the end of the Monday Night Wars - seemed destined to create a whole new generation of superstars, dream matches, and unforgettable moments. Vince's Course Of Action: Vince's biggest flaw is often thought to be his ego, and no moment proves this more decisively than the horrendous mess made of the Invasion angle. Having bought out his only real competition and established a monopoly over the mainstream wrestling world, many would assume that McMahon's thirst for dominance would be satisfied. Instead, he refused to portray the incoming WCW stars as anywhere near the level of his own talent, reducing the potentially groundbreaking storyline to a one-sided beatdown with a foregone conclusion. Nowhere near as many WCW wrestlers were put over as strongly as they should have been, with Vince instead bolstering their ranks with WWF stars such as Stone Cold Steve Austin and Kurt Angle. Today it is looked back upon as probably the biggest case of blown potential in wrestling history, a gigantic angle which could have transformed the industry, but is instead remembered as a disappointing failure.
