CM Punk's first wrestling match on weekly television was confirmed last night, as AEW positioned him opposite Team Taz's Powerhouse Hobbs for next week's Grand Slam edition of Rampage.

This came about when Team Taz accosted Punk while the 42-year-old was in the announce booth. Taz accusing Punk of taking his commentary spot set-up Hobbs' ambush, with the big man smashing Punk as Hook distracted him, leading, ultimately, to the Chicagoan being driven through the table. Now, the match is official.

Punk's last TV match went down back in January 2014, when he defeated Billy Gunn on an episode of WWE Raw. Facing off with Darby Allin at AEW All Out 2021 (5 September) was his first bout of any kind since the 2014 Royal Rumble six days after the Gunn bout.

Two other matches have also been confirmed for next Friday, with the show taped at the same time as Dynamite in Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York City on Wednesday.
