Last night's AEW Dynamite saw the promotion announced that a new competition - the 'Deadly Draw' women's tag team tournament - will go down this summer.

AEW's women's division has been stretched thin through the ongoing global health crisis. Travel restrictions have prevented the likes of Riho from appearing, coinciding with injuries to Britt Baker and Kris Statlander, though the former has remained on television, furthering a feud with Big Swole. Baker is expected to return at All Out in September.

Next week sees AEW Women's Champion Hikaru Shida defending her strap against Diamante, who defeated Ivelisse on last night's Dynamite. That the unranked wrestler has earned a title shot after previously being cast as an enhancement talent demonstrates the thinness.
