AEW Double Or Nothing 2023: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

8. Nobody Cares About The Battle Royal

Double Or Nothing must be akin to AEW's WrestleMania, because TK is stuffing as many wrestlers on the main card as humanly possible. That's been a 'Mania trope for decades, and it makes sense; workers want that sweet, sweet pay-per-view payday, and promoters want to reward them for hard work.

Fair enough, but it does sometimes lead to matches few give a hoot about.

Sunday's "Blackjack Battle Royal" for Orange Cassidy's International Title is one such bout. It's set to be a 21-man fray that's supposed to sell just how hardworking and game for defending his belt Orange is. That'd be fine if Vegas could be relied upon to care. Instead, this one could be the designated p*ss break.

That's a shame considering how hard Cassidy has worked to make that International belt mean something. He's had more title defences on TV than most AEW champs, so this doesn't feel like much of a reward. It could get even worse for him too...
