AEW Dynamite Switching To Tuesday Night Taping On 18 October

Bring on the one-week Tuesday Night War?

AEW Dynamite will be preempted to a Tuesday as a one-off later this year, with the promotion announced tapings in Cincinnati, Ohio for Tuesday 18 October during last night's show.

This is due to baseball coverage on AEW's network, TBS. Part of the MLB's American League Championship series is due to air on Wednesday 19 October, necessitating Dynamite switching nights.

What's unclear, however, is if this will be a pretaped Dynamite airing after the MLB game on the Wednesday or if the show will go out live on Tuesday. If it's the latter, there's a good chance of the episode going head-to-head with WWE NXT 2.0, which switched to Tuesday evenings following the much-publicised Wednesday Night Wars in April 2021.

Direct AEW vs. WWE competition ignited when NXT and Dynamite started going head-to-head in October 2019. Opting to take its developmental brand off the Network and onto live television to stifle AEW's growth, WWE were soundly defeated by the upstart promotion, with NXT outranking Dynamite only once in the two shows' 75 head-to-head weeks.

The 18 October Dynamite will not include a Rampage taping, with the Friday night show taking place live every week in October.
