NXT featured an unforgettable main event this week, pitting Timothy Thatcher against Matt Riddle in a 'fight pit' with Kurt Angle as the special guest referee. The two former tag team partners put each other through hell in this modified cage match, with Thatcher emerging victorious via technical submission, although not before Riddle nailed him with a 'Showtime kick' and cost him several teeth. Overall, the show was a vast improvement featuring an insane bump from Shotzi Blackheart, more TakeOver: In Your house developments, and Drake Maverick's fairytale continuing.

AEW meanwhile flattered to deceive. Granted there were some great moments including the highly-anticipated debut of FTR, Cody's declaration of a weekly defence of his TNT Championship, and (yet again) Britt Baker, but it ultimately left fans disappointed after an underwhelming battle royal, a bland match, and the worst main event segment since The Dark Order's December disaster. What the hell were they thinking putting Tyson and his goons (that weird looking one is called Mickey Gooch FYI) out there?!
