The phrase “AEW was victorious over NXT in the Wednesday Night Wars” has almost become redundant, given that Dynamite hasn’t been outdone by the WWE show since December 2019, but it happened again this week.

Dynamite’s 0.30 rating in the key 18-49 demographic was enough to beat NXT’s 0.16. The AEW number was identical to the previous week’s, though the WWE property was down from 0.17. Dynamite finished 13th on the night amongst cable shows while NXT failed to break the top 50 for the third consecutive week.

As far as overall viewership goes, AEW declined 9% from 826,000 to 753,000, while NXT suffered only a minor dip, hitting 644,000 after the previous week’s 651,000. Both are within the Nielsen system’s accepted 10% margin of error.

A total of 1.397 million people watched live professional wrestling on Wednesday night.

Both shows faced stern competition from the MLB World Series on FOX, which pulled an average of 8.9 million viewers. It was also a big night for news shows as the United States gears up for a Presidential Election on 3 November. A polite reminder to get out and vote if you can.
