Joey Janela will not be re-signing with All Elite Wrestling when his contract expires in May.

This is according to Janela himself, who told Denise Salcedo as much in an interview set to go out on her official YouTube channel later today.

Salcedo tweeted the following on Tuesday evening:-

Further details have not yet been disclosed, though it sounds like we can expect to hear more in the interview.

January saw Janela tell Fightful that his contract with AEW expires in May, adding that he enjoyed working with the Tony Khan-helmed group and was interested in sticking around. This followed him quipping to Barstool Sports' Robbie Fox that he "really has to step it up" if he wanted to earn a new deal in AEW.

Though there were rumours that Janela had signed a new AEW contract in 2021, these now appear to be unfounded.

A day-one AEW signing unveiled at the promotion's first ever press conference in January 2019, Janela has maintained a strong indie presence while working with the promotion, headlining for companies like GCW. The bulk of his AEW work has taken place on YouTube lately, with his last Dynamite bout taking place in May 2021.
