AEW's Backstage Reaction To Latest CM Punk Drama
How the AEW locker room has reacted ahead of CM Punk's ESPN interview dropping.
AEW's locker room hasn't reacted positively to word of an incendiary new CM Punk interview with ESPN set to drop later today.
Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live reports that Punk's interview was "the talk of the locker room" during this Wednesday's Dynamite taping in Washington, DC. "If you think that all of the strife and divisiveness in the locker room has been cleared up after that interview, it's not," he added.
Elsewhere, PWInsider's Mike Johnson reports that the interview was set up with AEW, so they knew all about it. As far as Johnson is aware, nobody had seen or read the interview as of yesterday, noting that the speculation currently doing the rounds could be designed to generate hype for AEW Collision's launch this Saturday.
It's entirely possible that the interview will amount to nothing, though Punk is understood to have addressed rival 'Hangman' Adam Page, The Elite, NJPW's KENTA, and more.
AEW hits Chicago's United Center for Collision's launch on Saturday. It'll be Punk's first time back in the company since last September, when he was suspended indefinitely for brawling with The Elite after All Out 2022.
