Speaking to the New York Post, AEW's Darby Allin his given his thoughts on Cody Rhodes' decision to depart All Elite Wrestling and return to WWE.

As picked up on by Wrestling Inc., Darby said he was happy so long as Cody was happy.

"I'm just happy if he's happy. That's all it comes down to. [There are] different roads everyone can take on this journey in professional wrestling. I know I wouldn't be happy doing anything outside of AEW because of all the free time, all the skating that I get to do, and all my side projects and the craziness. I can't be tied down to following a schedule that much. But if he finds that happiness, that's all that's important. That's all that really matters to me. It's nobody's business but his own."

Allin also had praise for how Rhodes chose the Daredevil to be his opponent at Fyter Fest 2019. There, Darby and the American Nightmare battled to a 20-minute draw.

Skipping ahead to AEW Full Gear 2020, it would be Darby Allin who would end Cody's second reign as TNT Champion. Allin would then embark on the longest TNT Title reign to date, holding onto the gold for 186 days before he was bested by Miro on the 12 May 2021 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Of course, Cody Rhodes returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38 as Seth Rollins' mystery opponent on Night 1 of this year's Showcase of the Immortals. After picking up the win over Rollins there, Rhodes again bested the Visionary at WrestleMania Backlash, and the two now seem set for a third match at the Hell in a Cell premium live event next month.
