With AEW due to officially start their male and female Owen Hart Cup tournaments in May, Tony Khan has moved to promise fans some excellent action as part of these tourneys.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio (via Wrestling Inc.), the AEW President enthused:

"I'm excited. In May, we're going to start The Owen Hart Cup tournament. And before the cup tournament starts, similar to the Olympics or the World Cup or a lot of the big tournament events out there, there's qualifying. You know, pre-tournament qualifying. And we're going to have that for The Owen Hart Cup, both the women's tournament and the men's tournament."

Khan continued on:

"I'm really excited about getting in there and finding out who's going to make the competition. I'll have announcements coming up soon about The Owen Hart qualifying matches, but I promise the fans these tournaments, both the men's tournament and the women's tournament, will be excellent."

During this appearance, Tony also revealed that the finals of these tournaments will take place at this year's Double or Nothing PPV on 29 May from Las Vegas, Nevada.

At this point in time, only one competitor has been revealed for The Owen Hart Cup, with The Bunny recently announced to take on a mystery opponent on this coming week's Dynamite in an Owen Cup qualifying contest. In terms of that mystery opponent, Tony Khan has announced that this will be a new signee - with online speculation suggesting the likes of Toni Storm, Athena/Ember Moon and Nixon Newell/Tegan Nox as being this next AEW arrival.
