"Ain't Nobody Selling Nothing" - WWE Legend Criticises Current Product (WWE News)
WWE Hall Of Famer Teddy Long gave Triple H's current product both barrels.
Teddy Long reckons WWE should appoint a "veteran guy that knows what he’s doing and what he’s talking about" to watch each company match and guide talent on the rights and wrongs of basic wrestling. The WWE Hall Of Famer told fans tuning into his podcast that he simply can't believe the lack of selling whenever he tunes into episodes on TV.
"Lot of guys ain’t selling nothing, man", he said.
Long thinks it'd be good if Triple H and other higher-ups clamped down on wrestlers kicking out of finishers too. It irks him that nobody's finisher is protected anymore, and that many top tier matches can only end after each performer has had a few last gasp 'shoulder up' moments following key moves. It's tough to argue with anything Teddy is saying here.
Another issue he has with WWE currently? "I don’t think they give storylines a long enough time for the fans to digest and kind of see what’s going on". Expanding on that point, Long said that many stories finish abruptly without a satisfying conclusion, then it's just onto the next as if nothing happened in the first place.
That doesn't make it easy for him to emotionally invest in what's presented; "So I don’t understand. How am I [going to] start to follow something, and then all of a sudden...it’s not there anymore?".
First and foremost, Teddy says he'd draft in a veteran to oversee matches as a priority. He'd make it the same person too. That way, there'd be some consistency to the style, quality of selling and tightness of each bout on the card.
