AJ Styles was injured will taking an awkward bump as the returning Edge speared him during last Sunday's men's Royal Rumble match, putting him on the sidelines for an anticipated spell of 6-9 weeks.

'The Phenomenal One' landed awkwardly on his arm while taking the move. He was hurried over the top rope and out of the ring shortly after and later confirmed he had suffered a separated shoulder, though he doesn't put the blame on 'The Rated-R Superstar.'

Per Dave Meltzer in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Styles was strong to "sell strong for Edge and take a spectacular bump" but landed incorrectly, damaging his shoulder. He told Edge to put him over the top rope rather than letting officials take him to the back.

Pro Wrestling Sheet's Ryan Satin has since come through with a direct quote from AJ's Mixer channel. "Just so everything is clear, Edge did nothing, absolutely 100% nothing wrong," he said. "His move, his spear, everything was perfect the way he did it. If there is any blame put on anybody about what I'm dealing with with my shoulder. it's me. 100% me."

That's good to hear. Let's hope Styles makes a swift recovery.
