Triple H has revealed via Cody Rhodes' podcast that AJ Styles could still have a big part to play in WWE's future plans, but only if he wants to do it. 'The Game' lifted the lid on what's coming next for AJ following his retirement loss to Gunther back at the 2026 Royal Rumble PLE.

According to the boss, Styles sat in on a few creative brainstorming sessions but found out pretty swiftly that "the writing thing’s not for him". Similarly, AJ didn't jive with producing talent either, but he could find his spot as a mentor who helps guide the careers of younger workers.

That's something the longtime stalwart is extremely passionate about. He's already aided young guys like TNA's Leon Slater and rising WWE star Je'Von Evans, so it's clearly a natural fit for Styles. This is something that Hunter wants to encourage, because he recognises the value AJ brings to the company in that role.

There's also a chance that Styles could work alongside Shawn Michaels on the NXT side too, which would make sense. Failing that, Trips is interested in having him scout out fresh wrestlers then help them bed into WWE's way of doing things - few are better placed to describe what it's like to walk into the daunting world of the market leader more than AJ.

Styles will be inducted as part of the 2026 WWE Hall Of Fame shortly before WrestleMania 42. That was announced by his old 'Mania 36 foe The Undertaker, and it's obviously well deserved.
