AJ Styles made history at the first brand-exclusive pay-per-view in the post-draft WWE world, as The Phenomenal One defeated Dean Ambrose to become the WWE World Championship. In doing so Styles became the only man to hold the WWE, TNA, NWA and IWGP Heavyweight Championships in the history of the sport, and unless Brock Lesnar turns up in TNA sometime soon he is unlikely to be matched.

Styles has a combined total of eight reigns with these four titles, with his first victory coming 13 years ago in 2003. The list includes three runs with the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, the top title in TNA until the partnership between those two organisations was ended. Styles surprisingly only won TNA's own World Heavyweight Championship twice (equal with Mr. Anderson & Matt Hardy).

After leaving TNA Styles showed up in New Japan Pro Wrestling where he won the top championship twice, with contrasting receptions. It was in New Japan that Styles cemented himself as one of the best in the world, and arguably where he rebuilt a career that had somewhat stalled in TNA.

Styles arrived in WWE this past January, and nine months later is on top of the world. But how does it rank with the other times he's been king of the mountain? Let's get to ranking.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
