Okay, so forget that the reign came to an end six days later and within a month or so AJ Styles was gone from the company. Yes it may be difficult to forget but work with me here. The big story in TNA in 2013 was Aces & Eights taking over the company, along with AJ Styles doing his best nWo- era Sting impression.

Styles was banned from challenging for the TNA World Championship until Bound for Glory, so obviously he was winning the Bound for Glory series. He did this, and a match against Aces & Eights' leader Bully Ray was on the cards.

The match was far from perfect, but it told a great story with both men putting their bodies on the line to try and create something special. AJ took a particularly sick bump through a table, missing a 450 splash and eating nothing but wood. He was able to mount an emotional comeback however, winning the title with yet another Spiral Tap.

This was a wonderful win for AJ Styles, and truly should have lead to him fronting the TNA cause once again. The damage had been done in a few years of truly miserable stories however, and Style was gone before the ink had dried on this entry into the history books.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
