Triple H and WWE management in general didn't give Alexa Bliss much time to prepare for her surprise comeback at February's 2025 Royal Rumble. Incredibly, the promotion first got in touch with Alexa at midnight to see if she'd be available for a slot in the titular 30-woman match. Bliss said yes, then WWE chiefs thrashed out their plans for the next 4-5 hours.

That is not a joke.

Alexa told this story during an appearance on The Nikki & Brie Show. Both Bella twins marvelled at the short turnaround, but they've surely experienced that 'grab your stuff and go' approach in pro wrestling before themselves. Even so, Alexa's tale was a sleepless one - WWE didn't decide on things until 4am, then they left it until 5am to call Bliss and confirm everything they had put in place.

A mere 5 hours later, she was catching a 10am flight to Cincinnati (meticulously planned so nobody would see her arriving in Indianapolis day of) and driving to the Lucas Oil Stadium for one of the most important PLEs on the calendar. Alexa didn't arrive at the building until around 4pm, which in turn didn't give her loads of time to map out what she'd be doing in the Rumble.

That match was in the ring by 6pm local time, according to Bliss.

She says that both Bayley and Natayla were brilliant when helping her re-acclimatise to things, because they got busy with making sure that Alexa knew where she was supposed to be and what she was supposed to be doing.

Bliss worked just over 11 minutes in the Rumble before being eliminated by Liv Morgan. She wasn't handed any eliminations herself, which surely had something to do with WWE's last-minute planning. However, Alexa told Nikki and Brie that she was able to enjoy her entrance on a major show for one of the first times ever.

After the Rumble, many fans and industry critics reasoned that Bliss would move into a story opposite/with Uncle Howdy and The Wyatt Sicks. After all, she had history as an offshoot Bray Wyatt character just like them, so it'd make sense. That didn't happen, but there were still follow up reports suggesting it'd become a major storyline on SmackDown in late-April.

Instead, WWE has decided to put Alexa in a tag-team with old NXT pal Charlotte Flair. Bliss told the Bellas that the pair "always had just this fun dynamic with each other" when coming up through the ranks. That "weird bond" should stand them in good stead as a duo on TV.

Recent editions of SmackDown have included Alexa thawing Charlotte's ice queen personality and forcing her way into a team with Flair. They'll challenge for the Women's Tag-Team Titles in a Fatal-4-Way encounter at Evolution on 13 July - Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez (replacing Liv Morgan) are the champs. Others involved in the bout? Sol Ruca and Zaria, as well as Kabuki Warriors pair Asuka and Kairi Sane.
