16. Big E

Unlike a lot of folks on this list, Big E (née Langston) got to debut as part of a major storyline. Unfortunately, this debut saw him playing the role of AJ Lee’s bodyguard.

This is by no means a bad role to play, except that E was coming off being NXT’s UNSTOPPABLE SUPER BABYFACE. That's like hiring Goldberg and having him spend 90% of his time scowling near Dolph Ziggler.

To be fair, WWE did establish Big E as a threat right away by having him lay out John Cena, but he didn't even wrestle his first singles match until four months later. He just showed up in a singlet to interfere in, like, Kofi Kingston matches.

This guy was NXT Champion and he was being told to stand in the shadows. Just imagine Finn Bálor getting called up and then all he does for months is show up in full body paint to back up Miz.

That's what this felt like.
