18. Bam Bam Bigelow & IRS Vs. The Headshrinkers - 1994

I’ll be honest, the only reason this match places this high on the list is because of personal bias. I genuinely believe that Bam Bam Bigelow is one of, if not the best big man in American wrestling history. He had the perfect mix of wrestling ability, scary agility, legitimate toughness and TATTOOS ON HIS HEAD. Don’t mess with a guy who’s head is covered in tattoos. I was a huge Headshrinkers fan as a kid too, although I’m not entirely sure why. I was overjoyed when they won the tag titles in 1994, and immensely sad when I watched this event and found out that they had dropped the titles to Shawn Michaels and Diesel just prior.

That sucked pretty much anything of value out of the match, although Bam Bam did what Bam Bam did and Captain Lou Albano was ringside to be generally a bit mental. The finish left a lot to be desired, after the mass of managers got involved and the referee caught Afa decking Bigelow and IRS, leading to the heels picking up the cheap win by disqualification. Not much to see here, other than my own personal nostalgia.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
