Asuka Clears Up Rumours On Her WWE Future (WWE News)

Will WWE fans ever see Asuka back on Raw, SmackDown or NXT again? Don't rule it out.

"I haven't left the team. I haven't quit".

That's what Asuka said to a fan on social media who queried whether or not the Japanese legend had left WWE behind following her loss to IYO SKY at Backlash this past May. The live crowd in Tampa, Florida gave her a standing ovation following an 18-minute scorcher vs. IYO. Then, on TV shortly afterwards, it looked like Asuka was saying goodbye to the fanbase.

Not so fast.

When a fan posted a graphic thanking Asuka for her service to the company, they included the caption/question: "There are people posting as if Asuka-san has left WWE, but that’s a lie, right? She’s just taking a break right now, right?". Responding, the former Royal Rumble winner and Women's Champion said she'd neither officially left WWE nor quit the roster.

That's interesting, and it'll get some folks talking about a possible comeback further down the line. Asuka hasn't wrestled a lick since putting SKY over at Backlash, so she'd have some ring rust to shake off once she returned. For the record, that return hasn't been confirmed either - it simply isn't the impossibility many believed it might be after that Damage CTRL schism.

At 45, Asuka looked better in-ring than many wrestlers half her age. She has a lot left to give, clearly, but will do on her terms. Anyone worried that she'd never work another match should be heartened by her latest comments though.

Another Asuka match could be on the way when she's good and ready. Fingers crossed.
