Sammy Guevara captured his first piece of AEW hardware last night, defeating Miro in a Dynamite main event that saw him working from beneath for the majority of his time in the ring, gradually chipping away at the monster's armour.

Fightful Select have come through with some new backstage details on the title change. The article states that AEW put plans for Guevara to unseat Miro into place around All Out 2021 (5 September), with 22 September's Grand Slam show in Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York City pinpointed as a potential date before it was pushed back a week.

A number of people backstage in AEW knew the title change was coming a few hours before last night's Dynamite in Rochester, New York.

Miro was TNT Champion for 140 days, mounting nine successful defences against the likes of Dante Martin, Lance Archer, and Evil Uno after taking the strap from Darby Allin back in May. His two Rampage wins over Fuego Del Sol set the Guevara match up, with AEW playing on Sammy's real-life friendship with the masked high-flyer.

Guevara, 28, has been with AEW since its first year of operation.
