Backstage News On WWE Doing More Moves On Ring Apron
Notice a new trend? Thank Ring of Honor for the idea.
There was a trend that took place during WWE Battleground with wrestlers doing spots on the side of the ring apron. It's something that management has encouraged talent to do because they saw how common it is in Ring of Honor, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. Any regular viewer of Ring of Honor knows they have been doing those kinds of bump for many years, so it's definitely plausible to think that there was a ROH influence on it. One of the more famous ring apron spots that WWE wrestlers have done was when The Undertaker did the leg drop on the apron while his opponent's head was under the bottom rope. During the Battleground event, Big E did a splash during the tag title match on Darren Young that is pictured above. Bray Wyatt has also made a DDT on the the ring apron as part of his regular arsenal. A popular apron spot is also Roman Reigns dropkick, which is called the Drive By.
