Backstage Notes On Finn Balor's WWE NXT Return
Here's how Finn Balor's WWE NXT return came together.
Finn Balor made his pre-advertised return on last night's WWE NXT, appearing live and in the flesh for the first time since breaking his jaw while wrestling Kyle O'Reilly at TakeOver 31 in October.
It was expected that the announced "update" would revolve around said jaw injury. It didn't. Balor only got a few sentences out before being interrupted by Pat McAfee and The Kings of WWE NXT, who surrounded the ring, cutting Balor's exits off. "It's easy for the mice to play when the cat's away," said Balor, "but the cat is back, and look what I just dragged in."
Cue: The Undisputed Era's return and a show-closing brawl.
Per a new report from Fightful Select, WWE kept the content of Balor's "update" relatively vague prior to last night's show, ensuring that no specific details on what the Irishman had to say were included on NXT's runsheets. It should be noted that Finn didn't get involved in the big brawl, instead making a quiet exit.
There's currently no word on when, exactly, Balor will return to the ring, though the TakeOver: WarGames special has now been announced for 6 December.
