Backstage Notes On Lita's WWE SmackDown Return
An update on Lita's WWE comeback, which went down on last week's SmackDown.
Lita's appearance on last week's episode of WWE SmackDown came together at the last minute, reports PWInsider's Mike Johnson.
WWE didn't come up with the idea of bringing the Hall of Famer in for the show until late in the week, with the move eventually approved on Thursday - and the company organising Lita's travel to Omaha, Nebraska that same day.
Lita's SmackDown appearance wasn't advertised until a few hours before the show. In appearing on the broadcast, she showed up on the blue brand for the first time since March 2003, when she and Trish Stratus teamed up to face Ivory and Jazz.
SmackDown's 7 January episode saw Lita announced as an unexpected participant in the upcoming women's Royal Rumble (29 January). Seven days later, she was back on a WWE microphone, saying that she had one last run left in her and was aiming to win the Rumble then headline WrestleMania 38.
Interrupted by Charlotte Flair, Lita's comeback segment ended on the trailblazer nailing the SmackDown Women's Champion with a Twist of Faith after some sparring on the microphone.
This will be Lita's second Royal Rumble match, having competed in the inaugural women's bout in 2018.
