AJ Styles could be set for a new character direction in WWE.

Insider account @BoozerRasslin has suggested that internally, WWE has discussed the idea of Styles becoming "more aggressive and determined" on television, though how - or when - this will manifest is yet to be confirmed.

AJ has had an interesting few weeks in WWE. The SmackDown star advanced to the World Heavyweight Championship Tournament finals at Night of Champions 2023, meeting Raw's Seth Rollins to determine the new title-holder, but fell short in a well-received match. Two nights later, Styles jumped to Raw to show respect to Rollins, alongside whom he then faced The Judgment Day's Finn Balor and Damian Priest. The heel group accosted Seth and AJ in the show's opening segment, leading to a main event tag bout.

Recent reporting states that Styles' addition to last week's Raw was a late call from WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon.

Styles remains aligned with Karl Anderson, Mia Yim, and Luke Gallows as The OC on Friday nights. Having previously been assigned to Raw, the group was sent to SmackDown as part of WWE's 2023 Draft in April.
