Rey Fenix shouldn't be out of action for too much longer.

Speaking on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that the injured Lucha Brother hopes to be back in the ring by mid-February. This follows an injury suffered in the Lucha Brothers' World Tag Team Title match with Jurassic Express on the 5 January episode of AEW Dynamite.

Fenix was involved in a spot-gone-wrong with Luchasaurus towards the end of that bout. Luchasaurus chokeslammed Rey from the apron and through a table on the outside of the ring, with Fenix taking a rough landing on his arm. Tended to by medics, the high-flyer was effectively taken out of the match, though Penta El Zero Miedo was pinned to secure Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy's title win soon after the incident.

Though there were initially fears that Fenix had broken his arm, it was later determined that Rey had suffered a dislocation.

Fenix and Penta had reigned as AEW World Tag Team Champions since 5 September 2021 prior to the Jurassic Express loss, having defeated The Young Bucks to take the gold at All Out.
