Seth Rollins ate a voluntary elimination from the traditional men's 5-on-5 match at WWE Survivor Series 2020, dropping to his knees and urging Sheamus to "do his part." With Michael Cole selling that 'The Messiah' was sacrificing himself, Sheamus was happy to oblige, nailing Rollins with a Brogue Kick to make him the bout's first elimination.

Per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online, this was done do write Seth off television for the foreseeable future.

This follows on from a recent report stating that Rollins would be taking time away from television as his fiancee, Becky Lynch, is due to give birth to their first child in December. Meltzer writes that Seth will likely be back for Royal Rumble 2021 in January and the Road to WrestleMania 37 that follows.

Recent weeks have seen WWE attempt to wrap Rollins' ongoing storylines. Long-term rival Rey Mysterio defeated him in a No Holds Barred match on the 13 November episode of SmackDown, followed by Seth's former follower, Murphy, defeating him the next week. In classic pro-wrestling fashion, Rollins was used to put other wrestlers over on his way out the door.
