Backstage Update On When Heyman & Bischoff Will Start Their New WWE Roles
Do the new Executive Directors start immediately?
Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff blew the wrestling world apart with news of their imminent WWE returns yesterday, but fans shouldn't expect the new Raw and SmackDown Executive Directors to jump straight into their roles.
This is according to Pro Wrestling Sheet's Ryan Satin, who claims that viewers hoping for radical, instantaneous changes are going to be disappointed as the current plan is for Heyman and Bischoff to "slowly assimilate into their new roles before being given full control to oversee the creative development of their shows."
As confirmed yesterday, Heyman and Bischoff will still have to report to Vince McMahon. The Chairman shall retain his final say on everything, so while he will be ceding a degree of control following these appointments, he isn't close to stepping away entirely.
Satin's source claimed that these moves had "nothing to do with the XFL," and said "only time will tell" if Vince appointed his former rivals to ease his eventual transition out of wrestling.
Whatever happens next, it's going to be extremely interesting to see what kind of impact these two wild creative minds have on WWE's stale televised product, particularly with the Fox deal kicking in.
