Backstage Update On WWE's WrestleMania 35 Main Event Plans
WWE may use the event to set up next year's main event.
Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair will headline WrestleMania 35 on 7 April, and while we already know that Rousey's Raw Women's Championship will be on the line, the status of Flair's newly-won SmackDown belt is currently unclear. This should be clarified on next week's Monday Night Raw, and the company's plans for the big match are starting to manifest backstage as well.
According to Dave Meltzer in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE's key goal when it comes to the Triple Threat is emerging from it with a "clear direction for next year's WrestleMania."
He goes on to note that this could mean a Rousey vs. Lynch singles match in Tampa, or another Flair vs. Lynch bout, so the winning pinfall or submission should be telling, even though 'Rowdy' is expected to embark on a lengthy hiatus after the event.
Meltzer adds that Vince McMahon's propensity to change his mind could throw a spanner in the works, especially as this year's key title matches were essentially decided by the fans. Still, it looks like WrestleMania 25's main event finish will definitely be something worth reading into, no matter the winner.
