Bayley Injury Update: Likely To Miss SummerSlam
Match with Alexa Bliss in major doubt.
Reports from WWE now suggest that the shoulder injury Bayley suffered at the hands of Nia Jax this past Monday leave her SummerSlam participation in serious doubt.
In a video posted on WWE.com, Cathy Kelley revealed that the Raw superstar is set to undergo a "final medical examination" in Toronto this coming week. At present, her title match with the red brand's women's champion Alexa Bliss is described by the company as "in jeapordy".
Since suffering the injury, Bayley has been pulled from all the company's live events, in the hope that her shoulder will recover in time for WWE's huge summer showdown at the Barclays Centre on 20 August.
Should the 'Dr. of Huganomics' fail to regain full fitness in time for the event, the current belief is that Sasha Banks or Nia Jax will step in as her replacement. Bliss and Bayley's clashes on PPV have been generally lacklustre this year - the kendo stick match from Extreme Rules in particular - and perhaps some fans wouldn't mourn their upcoming tie being scrapped.
Nevertheless, we wish Bayley well in her rehabilitation, and hope the scheduled match with Bliss in a fortnight's time goes ahead as planned.
