Becky Lynch Asked WWE Creative To Lose On Raw
Plans changed when Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out on WWE, but Becky Lynch had a plan.
Becky Lynch was reportedly behind Asuka's green-mist-led win on Monday's hastily-rearranged episode of Raw.
The Wrestling Observer claims that Becky held last-minute talks with WWE's creative team once Sasha Banks and Naomi had walked out on the show before cameras rolled. Originally, WWE planned to hold a 'Six Pack Challenge' that'd thrash out the number one contender to Bianca Belair's Raw Women's Title.
Becky was supposed to face Banks, Naomi, Doudrop, Nikki A.S.H and Asuka in that match, but the walkout changed everything. Thinking on her feet, and knowing that WWE wanted to keep back Lynch vs. Belair for a big-time pay-per-view, Becks suggested just losing to Asuka.
That sets up Asuka vs. Bianca at Hell In A Cell on 5 June and keeps Lynch's next title shot in WWE's back pocket.
WWE's writers were probably thankful for Becky's suggestion, because there must've been some panic behind the scenes at Raw following Sasha and Naomi storming out. Lynch kept her head and decided that putting Asuka over was the best course of action.
Becky will likely be rewarded for this at some point in the future.
