In-demand independent wrestler Ben Carter has told Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp that visa issues prevented him from getting paid for his recent appearances for All Elite Wrestling.

The Brit came into the fold through Christopher Daniels, who contacted Carter via Twitter and email, asking if he'd be interested in working a match or two so that the promotion could take a closer look at him. Carter agreed, though an AEW official let him know that it would be illegal for them to pay him because of his US visa status.

"I don't care about the money, I'll do it for free any day," said Carter in response, and a deal was struck.

Carter worked Scorpio Sky in an acclaimed opener on the special Late Night Dynamite show on 22 September. This was followed by another eye-catching performance against Lee Johnson on Dark the following night, which broke from the web series' usual pseudo squash format. All of this came after a Dark defeat to Ricky Starks earlier in the month.

These performances saw Carter emerge as one of the independent scene's most must-sign talents, so it'll be interesting to see where he ends up.
