Best (And Worst) Of NXT 2016
10. Most Improved: No Way Jose
Dancing gimmicks that work are just like finding a piece of hay in a stack of needles - it's almost impossible and it hurts to even look at. But that's what we got with No Way Jose when he debuted: an all day fiesta that always seemed to have a smile on his face and a song in his heart. His move set wasn't anything to ride home about, and his finisher of a baseball pitch punch was just too gimmicky for my taste.
But once he turned and got serious, everything kind of clicked. He expanded his move set to include a real finisher with the TKO, got better on the mic, and had some actual, competitive matches that showed that he was no joke. Is he a main event talent? No, not in the slightest. But his overwhelming charisma and in-ring style could take him farther than any other dancing gimmick has gotten.
