Big E Shoots On WWE Title Reign Failure

The former WWE Champion got rather honest about his lacklustre title reign...

Big E let his real feelings on his first-ever WWE Championship reign be known during a recent interview with Z100's Josh Martinez.

Likening his 2021 run with the strap to that of his New Day brethren Kofi Kingston, the former champ would note that, on top of Brock Lesnar once again being the guy to usurp a New Day WWE Champion, the friends' reigns weren't too different.

As the SmackDown star put it:

“... kind of that falling off of a cliff feeling at the hands of one Brock Lesnar and then suddenly, it feels like you woke up a year prior and you’re back to doing what you were doing before.”

On top of noting how Kingston handled this back to square one turn of events with grace and acted as a consummate professional despite the sour end to his WWE title run, Big E would then admit that there were a number of things he'd have preferred to have done differently if he could when it pertained to his reign.

Big E would continue:

“I wish it would have lasted longer, I wish we would have had the opportunity to do some more dynamic things and you know, I don’t think it — it’s difficult to really latch onto a new champion when they have — within their first month, they have multiple losses on TV but again, we can go down this path. Look man, I (genuinely appreciate) all the people who support me and who want better for me. I also want better for myself and I guess I’ll just leave it there.”

There's no questioning the fact that WWE didn't present the 2021 Money in the Bank winner as the most dominant or effective world champ of recent times, with Big E, according to CageMatch, racking up a so-so record of 3-2 in September of last year alone. The star ate two losses in a row on Raw when facing off against Bobby Lashley and Roman Reigns in a three-way and The Bloodline in six-man action on the same night.

As of writing, Big E once again finds himself shuffled into the tag team pack alongside the aforementioned Kingston, with it very much feeling like the ship has sailed on another title run for the positive powerhouse in the foreseeable.
