Dave Meltzer is reporting, via Wrestling Observer Radio, that he's been told "not even close" by backstage sources in WWE when suggesting that John Cena will play a part in the men's WarGames match at Survivor Series 2025 on 29 November. Originally, Meltzer opined that it'd be a fab idea for Cena to team with Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Jey Uso and Roman Reigns.

He's since been told that isn't the plan - this doesn't necessarily mean that Roman won't be announced though.

The Observer chief has heard that WWE will firm up plans for Survivor Series: WarGames on Monday's episode of Raw in Madison Square Garden. That 17 November edition will mark Cena's last appearance in one of WWE's most iconic venues, and it'll be his final bow on the flagship show too.

Announcing him as one of the final 2 members on the babyface squad for WarGames would've made sense. Of course, it could still happen, but Meltzer's sources tell him it isn't locked in right now and probably won't be. Plans change, and all that!

Dave also claims that Cena's Intercontinental Title win over Dominik Mysterio was initially slated to happen in San Diego at Survivor Series. WWE expedited that belt switch so John could win one more piece of gold in Boston. That made perfect sense, but it leaves a big question mark over the booking for WWE's upcoming PLE.

If Cena isn't going to be involved in WarGames and won't wrestle Dominik again, then what will Triple H have him do? Raw should provide all of the answers or prove Meltzer wrong. Onto Monday.
