Bret Hart Almost Had A CAT Sidekick In WCW

This seriously almost happened.

Bret Hart spent much of his 1997-2000 WCW run wishing he was anywhere else.

The 'Hitman' doesn't look back fondly on anything from his stint with the fallen company, and he told Fightful that he actively began pitching the most ridiculous ideas he could think of to see what would get the green light. At one point, Bret even suggested that he get a cat sidekick who'd help him win matches.

World Cat Wrestling? Bret 'Catman' Hart? It almost happened.

Hart recalls turning up to Nitro and being told he had a promo. When he asked what it was about though, nobody had a clue, so Bret went out and spoke about his cat Smokey. According to Hart, Eric Bischoff loved the segment, and that's when the Canadian cheekily thought he could get away with pitching a feline manager.

WCW stopped short of actually going through with this (which, let's be honest here, is a bit of a surprise), but Bret planned to bring a cat basket and toy kitty to ringside with him. His furry friend would be stuffed with a brick he'd use to clock opponents.

What might've been.
