Brock Lesnar Injury Update: Staples Needed Following Hell In A Cell PPV
How many staples did it take to close the wound on Lesnar's head?
Following his main event Hell In A Cell match with The Undertaker last night, Brock Lesnar reportedly needed 9 staples to close the gaping wound on the top of his head. Lesnar appeared to bust his head open hard-way (no razor blade needed) during a spot early in the match when The Undertaker sent him head first into the ring post. At first glance, it actually appeared that Lesnar missed the post entirely. The announcers even remarked that he got his hand up to block the impact. However, an instant replay was shown where it was evident the top of Lesnar's head struck the ring post. At that point, Lesnar started bleeding profusely. Lesnar has busted open his head on purpose before, at WrestleMania 31 this past year in California, so it's likely this was intentional as well. Later in the Hell In A Cell match, Lesnar took off his gloves and proceed to punch Undertaker until he was also bleeding, so it appears that both men went into the match knowing they were going to "get juice." As is well publicized, WWE has had a no blood policy for several years. Under no circumstance are talents supposed to actively bleed in their matches, especially if the bleeding involves using a razor blade. However, if there are two guys that could get away with purposely bleeding without reprimand, it is Lesnar and Undertaker. Dave Meltzer reports that neither man was spoken to following the match last night, though Vince McMahon was reportedly upset at the gorilla position during the bout. McMahon ordered officials into the ring to wipe away the blood from both competitors as the match was still on-going. Additionally, all of the photos on WWE.com of the match that show blood have been changed to black and white.
