Brock Lesnar Retiring From WWE At SummerSlam 2026? (WWE News)

John Cena might've given the game away about WWE's retirement plans for Brock Lesnar.

John Cena name-dropped Brock Lesnar during an appearance on Chris Van Vliet's 'Insight' show this week. The soon-to-retire star, who will officially hang up his jorts at Saturday Night's Main Event this weekend, told CCV that he reckons Brock will also call time on his career at an upcoming event in Minnesota.

For reference, that's where Lesnar began his journey to superstardom.

Some folks have already been pointing out that SummerSlam 2026 on 1-2 August next year is scheduled to take place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. So, putting 2+2 together with Cena's words, it seems like there's a decent chance that PLE could host Brock's retirement bash.

The Wrestling Observer followed up on this with some news of their own. Dave Meltzer claims he heard from sources that Lesnar would be hanging up his cowboy hat in 2026. However, it's important to state that nothing has been 100% confirmed as of yet; it probably won't be until closer to the time unless WWE kicks something off with Brock winding down at Royal Rumble in January.

He'd be free to work the Rumble and another big bout at WrestleMania 42. Triple H may also want to make the most of Lesnar before he loses him for good. Despite his status, there are still some who have a bad taste in their mouths that Brock is back on WWE TV at all after being mentioned in the ongoing Janel Grant lawsuit against Vince McMahon and others.

Meltzer also dropped word on potential retirement story arcs for both AJ Styles and Chris Jericho.

Styles has already said he plans to call it a career in 2026, but hasn't specified an exact date quite yet. Meanwhile, rumours remain rife that Jericho is on his way out of Tony Khan's AEW and will soon sign on the dotted line with WWE for a few matches, a Hall Of Fame induction, and then a retirement storyline.

If all of this happens, then WWE would've kissed goodbye to no less than 4 major stars within 12 months. Cena will retire on the 13 December SNME, then AJ, Jericho and Brock would give their own grand farewells come next year. That's insane to think about, being honest.

Stay tuned for more on the Lesnar situation, as well as Jericho's jump from AEW > WWE, when further news breaks.
