If you thought Brock Lesnar was going to take losing by being pinned while trying to break Cody Rhodes' arm well, then you haven't been paying attention.

Rhodes' leverage pin while trapped in Brock's Kimura felt like a banana peel win at Backlash, magnified by Cody immediately fleeing the ring and celebrating while backpedaling up the aisle. But it still was PLE victory in a must-win situation, so that was the right result.

Monday, however, Lesnar made a shock appearance during the second triple threat in the World Heavyweight Championship tournament, pulling Cody out of the ring after he had seemingly put Miz away to advance. Brock laid Rhodes out with two F-5s, the latter of which was through the announce desk. Lesnar then grabbed the mic and demanded that the American Nightmare fight him at Night of Champions.

Later, Rhodes accepted the challenge, though it was unclear whether the term "fight" implied a special stipulation such as Last Man Standing so there isn't a rollup finish again.

Lesnar simultaneously solves the issue of Rhodes potentially fighting for the "wrong" world title and gives him a main-event-level feud until he can get back on track to chase Roman Reigns again. Of course, the easier solution would have been for Cody to win the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 39 and defend it twice against Brock.

Sorry, but nearly every story beat could be the same here, and it would have worked just as well, if not better.
