Rey Mysterio's involvement in All In was the marquee announcement Cody and pals used to close out their press conference, and it's sure to ruffle some feathers amongst those in the media who believed he was about to become the latest WWE full-timer.

Now Rey is set to appear for Cody and the Bucks on 1 September, there's no feasible way he can sign a concrete contract with WWE before then. It doesn't rule out sporadic appearances, but it does crap all over suggestions Mysterio would ink a WWE deal and play a huge part in the promotion's summer push towards SummerSlam.

Keeping things rather vague on the masked man's appearance, the Club didn't reveal who Rey will be wrestling on the night either.

Maybe it doesn't really matter at this point in proceedings. The most vital thing for everyone concerned was getting such a legend on board in the first place and showing solidarity with someone wrestling fans have grown to respect. So much for that WWE run though.

There's always 2019.
