Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez will be returning to the squared circle this December.

As revealed by AAA, Velasquez will be competing once more for the promotion on 4 December. Right now, no opponent has been announced to square off with Cardio Cain.

Velasquez had previously competed for AAA prior to signing with WWE in 2019. Back at TripleMania XXVII, a masked Cain teamed with Cody Rhodes and Psycho Clown as he made his in-ring debut.

Of course, Velasquez would joined WWE shortly after TripleMania XXVII, with him facing Brock Lesnar at 2019's Crown Jewel event. There, Cain would lose to Lesnar in barely two minutes, with later reports indicating that Velasquez had been dealing with an injury going into that match.

WWE had plans to do more with Velasquez down the line, but the company then opted to release the MMA legend in April 2020 as part of the company's budget cuts.

One would have to imagine that WWE still has interest in restarting their working relationship with Cain Velasquez, with the 39-year-old having name value with the mainstream in addition to being an intriguing prospect to wrestling fans. Whether or not Velasquez ends up back in WWE at some point remains to be seen, but for now we at least know that Cain will be back in a wrestling ring before 2021 is out.
