Changes Made To Wrestle Kingdom 11 Match Card

NJPW Shake Up The Card Ahead Of WK11.

Wrestle Kingdom 11 1

Wrestle Kingdom 11 is just around the corner and New Japan have made a rare change to the card based on events from the recent Road To Tokyo Dome shows.

G.B.H, consisting of veterans Togi Makabe and Tomoaki Honma, won the 2016 World Tag League and earned the right to face the IWGP Tag Team Champions Guerrillas Of Destiny at WK11. However, Chaos member Toru Yano has interrupted matches involving these four over the past week, delivering low blows and stealing the title belts. He did this while demanding to be involved in the Wrestle Kingdom tag match, a wish that New Japan have today granted.

There will now be a triple threat match for the IWGP Tag Team Championships: G.O.D (Tonga and Roa) vs G.B.H (Makabe and Honma) vs Chaos (Yano and Ishii).

Ishii was previously booked into the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Title match but has been replaced by Jado. This change has the benefit of giving the popular veteran Ishii a featured spot on the card and also avoids a straight repeat of the World Tag League Final where G.O.D lost to G.B.H. Yano is also strongly over with the Japanese audience as a comedy character. New Japan are a very traditional promotion and have always tried to maintain the prestige surrounding the World Tag League, so another performer working his way into the match via shenanigans is highly unusual. Therefore they must believe the benefits of adding Yano and Ishii are worth upsetting their traditions.
