Chris Jericho couldn't resist responding to a fan's comment on Twitter about some commentary at WWE's Money In The Bank pay-per-view.

The fan encouraged WWE to "stop changing history"; they were reacting to Michael Cole's on-screen claim that Edge invented the MITB concept back in 2005. That, as the grumbling viewer explained, isn't actually the truth.

Jericho himself had a hand in it, but he credits ex-WWE writer Brian Gewirtz as the brainiac behind Money In The Bank. Originally, the multi-wrestler ladder bout was going to be titled the "Hollywood Dream" match, and was designed to be a one-off at WrestleMania 21.

Cole outright said that Edge, not Gewirtz or Jericho, was responsible for the briefcase idea. Nobody would've expected WWE to give props to ex-employees (especially if they're working for the competition), but AEW's finest wanted to clarify things regardless.

Jericho also pointed out that it was Vince McMahon who decided to put a title contract inside the case. Then, he reasoned, workers would have something tangible to carry around on TV before "cashing in" their opportunity.

So yeah, take that Cole! Trending on Twitter must've gone to his head...
