That CM Punk was injured in the chaotic backstage brawl that engulfed AEW after All Out 2022 has been a popular rumour over the past few days, but it's likely that the AEW World Champion was hurt before the fight.

Fightful Select reports that sources close to the matter believe that Punk actually injured his triceps during his All Out main event with Jon Moxley. Although he wasn't bandaged or taped up after the clash, Punk did ice his arm during the media scrum that ended up sparking the brawl.

There is currently no word on the extent of Punk's injuries, though it is believed that he was already hurt heading into the reported scrap with AEW Executive Vice Presidents The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega.

Punk's AEW future currently hangs in the balance. Although accounts on which side was responsible for the brawl vary depending on the source, the World Champion's inciteful comments on Colt Cabana, 'Hangman' Adam Page, the EVPs, and more during the media scrum appeared to spark it off.

While the question of who started the fight remains unanswered, witnesses agree the Punk punched Matt Jackson at least once, Ace Steel threw a chair at Nick Jackson, and Steel bit Omega and pulled his hair.
