CM Punk Teases Classic Theme's Return Ahead Of AAA Worlds Collide (WWE News)
Could this fire burn this weekend at Worlds Collide?
While CM Punk has already teased the return of his old Straight Edge Society mask for this weekend's Worlds Collide event, the Second City Saint has now also teased the return of an old favourite entrance theme.
Taking to Instagram, Punk hyped Worlds Collide with a caption that reads, "How long does the fire burn? ALWAYS."
Of course, CM Punk's first WWE entrance theme was This Fire Burns by Killswitch Engage, a song he used from his arrival in ECW in 2006 until the Summer of Punk in 2011, when he'd switch his theme up to use Living Color's Cult of Personality. And so, many are taking this latest Insta post as Punk bringing back This Fire Burns this weekend.
As for the mask that Punk's wearing on that Worlds Collide poster, that was introduced in 2010 as he and his Straight Edge Society - Luke Gallows, Serena Deeb, and eventually Joey Mercury - feuded with Rey Mysterio. After Punk lost to Mysterio at that year's Over the Limit event, he was forced to have his head shaved. From there, the Chicagoan would start to wear a lucha mask to hide his bald head.
In terms of what he's doing at Worlds Collide - the crossover event between WWE, AAA, and NXT talent - CM Punk is teaming with his old rival Rey Mysterio and El Grande Americano to take on Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh, and Omos. Elsewhere, Roxanne Perez challenges La Catalina for the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship; Axiom, Je'Von Evans, EK Prosper, and Mini Vikingo meet in a fatal four-way to determine the new number one contender for Rey Fenix's AAA Cruiserweight Championship; the Lucha Bros. reunite to battle Los Perros del Mal's Daga and Berto; Dragon Lee and Jack Cartwheel square off in what could be a show-stealer; Fatal Influence and Las Toxicas Flammer meet in a six-woman tag bout; Mr. Iguana, La Parka, Mascarita Sagrade, and Adelicious team up against the Vanity Project and Mini Abismo; and there's an appearance from Oba Femi.
Worlds Collide takes place at Rosemont's Allstate Arena this Saturday, the same day and time as AEW All Out, and just 20 minutes away from that PPV. As of this writing, it still remains to be seen whether Worlds Collide will be broadcast this weekend, with WWE yet to announce anything on that front.
